Roger Mason was the first international composer to be granted a scholarship by the Robert Redford Sundance Institute, which gave him the opportunity to study under acclaimed screen composers Alan Silvestri, Danny Elfman and Michael Kamen. His first venture into film score the film ‘Aya’, was nominated for the AFI Best Score Award.
Since those beginnings, Roger has gone on to divide his time between here and Los Angeles, working on a multitude of projects for both film and television. He has received five AGSC Awards as well as an ARIA Award for Best Debut Song.
His works include the feature film ‘The Craft’, ‘Joey’, ‘Dead Letter Office’, ‘The Long Lunch’, ‘When Strangers Appear’ and ‘Equus’. For television, Roger has created the music for such productions as ‘MDA’ and ‘Day Of The Roses’ and the production for which he received the ABC Gold Manuscript Award ABC-TV’s ‘Australians At War’. The theme for Australians At War is a significant piece commissioned by the Department of Veteran Affairs and particularly suitable for any national events.
